Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Anze Kopitar and Trevor Lewis scored less than two minutes apart early in the third period, helping the Los Angeles Kings spoil Dave Camerons head coaching debut with a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. The two goals came almost immediately after Ottawas Mark Stone scored short- handed to tie the game at 2-2 just 1:44 into the final frame. Matt Greene, Justin Williams and Tanner Pearson also tallied to help the Kings bounce back after two straight losses. Jake Muzzin posted a career-best three assists, while Jonathan Quick came up with 32 saves for Los Angeles. There were two or three times in the game where we had good responses, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said. Its not easy sailing. Cameron was elevated from assistant coach on Monday to replace Paul McLean, who was fired after the Senators dropped 13 of their last 17 games. Ottawa was able to overcome a 2-0 deficit on goals by Bobby Ryan and Stone, but gave up three in the third period to fall to 1-4-1 in its last six outings. Jared Cowen notched a goal and an assist in the loss, with Craig Anderson stopping 31-of-35 shots for Ottawa. I dont think we can be too upset with the effort, said Cowen. We just have to bring it for the whole game. A failed clearing attempt by Kings defenseman Drew Doughty led to Stones equalizer, but he and his teammates quickly regrouped to give Los Angeles back the lead while still on a 5-on-4 power play. Kopitar raced to the net with the Kings controlling the puck in the Ottawa zone, and Doughty found him with a pinpoint pass that set up a successful backhander that came just 36 seconds after Stones goal. Los Angeles continued to pressure the Senators while back ahead, and Lewis converted a centering pass from Tyler Toffoli while stationed in front of a defenseless Anderson to push the lead to 4-2 with 4:02 elapsed in the third. Anderson was pulled for an extra attacker with just over a minute to play, and the Senators plan worked when Cowen sent a shot that deflected off Muzzins stick and past Quick with 1:21 still to go. However, Pearson fought off a check shortly after the ensuing faceoff and fired the puck into the vacated net to seal it with 56.6 seconds left. The Senators started out very strong in Camerons debut, peppering Quick with eight shots before the Kings recorded their first. They outshot Los Angeles 14-5 for the first period, but Quick kept it scoreless by making several impressive saves -- including a close-range denial of Alex Chiasson that held up after a review. Los Angeles then went ahead just 1:47 into the second, when Greene wound up and fired a drive that caromed past a screened Anderson through heavy traffic. The Kings struck again near the midway mark of the period. Williams beat Sens defender Erik Karlsson for a puck sent down the boards by Muzzin, then fired a wrister through Andersons pads for a 2-0 advantage. A tremendous individual effort by Ryan enabled Ottawa to close the gap less than five minutes later. The talented wing blew past defenseman Brayden McNabb with a nifty move, then got Quick out of position before depositing home a backhand attempt. Game Notes The Kings had scored just eight goals over their previous five games ... Forward Milan Michalek (upper body) and defenseman Marc Methot (back/hip) both missed a second straight game for Ottawa, which also played without forward Clarke MacArthur (illness) ... The Kings improved to 12-0-3 this season when scoring first and 9-2-0 when recording a power-play goal ... Doughty finished with two assists. Vans Shoes Outlet . In an exciting weekend of upcoming action, Hull and Sheffield Wednesday face off for a place in the Premier League in Saturdays Sky Bet Championship showdown, while the League One final pits Barnsley and Millwall on Sunday and Mondays League Two finale sees Plymouth take on AFC Wimbledon - you can watch all games live on Sky Sports. From Dean Windass volleying home for his hometown club Hull City to Clive Mendoncas unforgettable hat-trick for Charlton, there have been some iconic play-off final moments over the years. But what have been the highlights for our TV talent? Football League analyst Ian Holloway: QPR 1-0 Derby, 2014Apart from the ones I was directly involved with, Im going to pick QPRs victory over Derby. I lost a play-off final with QPR in 2003 and to see all the Rs fans that day heartbroken was tough, so it was a real thrill for me to see them get their day in the sun at Wembley. The game itself was a bit drab until Gary ONeil got sent-off for QPR and then Derby started to knock it around. It looked only a matter of time before they struck. However, football can produce incredible moments and Bobby Zamora scored a dramatic winner from what was probably QPRs first attack since they went down to 10 men. His first touch was sublime and his second was even better - hammering it into the top corner. I leapt off of my chair and screamed the house down as there was no way coming back from that. Highlights of the 2014 Championship play-off final between QPR and Derby County Sky Sports co-commentator Don Goodman: Blackpool 3-2 Cardiff, 2010Theres been many, many, amazing play-offs over the years. The 5-5 draw between Swindon and Sheffield United in the semi-finals last season was probably the best semi-final, but the most memorable final for me was Ian Holloways Blackpool final against Cardiff. It was the first final I covered where both teams went at it and played without fear, which was totally opposite to the first few finals I commentated on. They were all tense affairs but this one was different - it was a sensational occasion. Highlights of the 2010 play-off final between Blackpool and Cardiff as Ian Holloway led the Seasiders to the Premier Leaguee Sky Sports commentator Bill Leslie: Swansea 4-2 Reading, 2011Ian Holloways Blackpool had opened it all up a year earlier which was fantastic as wed seen a few very nervy 1-0 finals previously, where the team that were less entertaining had progressed.dddddddddddd Swansea continued Blackpools theme in the final a year later with a style of football which was wonderful to watch. What will always stick with me from that game was the Swansea crowd singing Hymns of Arias with Scott Sinclair wheeling away celebrating his hat-trick - it was spine-tingling stuff. Weve had so many teams recently winning promotion that have been on the brink of extinction or financial oblivion. The story arcs that are involved with the Championship final are just tremendous. Highlights of the 2011 Championship play-off final as Brendan Rodgers Swansea beat Reading 4-2 at Wembley Sky Sports commentator Daniel Mann: Leyton Orient 2-2 Rotherham United (3-4 pens), 2013The one that springs to straight into my mind is Rotherhams win over Leyton Orient. It was the game where Steve Evans ran down the touchline celebrating - an act that needs no words! It was an unbelievable set of circumstances - Orient were 2-0 up at half-time and I remember saying on commentary: Dont you dare write Rotherham off.I genuinely felt the comeback was coming. Alex Revell - a former Orient player - led the charge. He scored one off the goalkeeper which was a bit fortuitous and then he took centre stage. He hit this ball - goodness knows how far out he was - and I almost dismissed it as very ambitious but it flew into the net. It was one of those moments that got me emotionally as you do really get into the game when youre telling the story. Ive been told the words I said on commentary were printed on t-shirts made by Rotherham fans.
